a little bit about me
Hi, I’m Cathy! I’ve called the breathtaking Northern Rivers home for years, and painting has been my lifelong passion. My artistic journey began in my teenage years, fueled by my family's travels and a poster of Kandinsky’s "Blue Rider" tucked in my suitcase. After expressing my creativity as a hairdresser and makeup artist in film and TV, I studied visual art at Southern Cross University, where I discovered exciting opportunities in large-scale commercial art installations and design projects. Now, I'm embracing painting full-time once again.
My work delves into the profound connections between water and life, exploring how we navigate joy and challenges simultaneously on our journeys. Using acrylics and pigment sticks, I create vibrant layers and mark-making that celebrate strength and beauty of nature. Family means everything to me—I’ve been married to my love for 37 years, and together we have four grown happily married children and six wonderful grandchildren. As a large family we are forever learning invaluable lessons about love and resilience, sharing in each other’s joy and challenges is such a gift and inspiration for my art.
You’ll often find me in my forest studio, daydreaming and inspired by the stunning natural surroundings that fuel my creativity.
